MAAK was represented by our Secretariat, at a comprehensive masterclass on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the Tripartite Free Trade Area (TFTA), hosted by KAM (Kenya Association of Manufacturers) for stakeholders in the automotive sector.

Key Highlights

  • In-depth Exploration of AfCFTA and TFTA: The session provided valuable insights into these key trade agreements and their implications for the automotive industry.
  • Focus on ROO and VNOM: Discussions revolved around Rules of Origin (ROO) and Value of Non-Originating Materials (VNOM), which are crucial for understanding vehicle manufacturing standards and trade regulations across the continent.

The masterclass enabled MAAK to gain essential knowledge that will guide our strategies and further support the growth of the industry within the framework of regional trade agreements.



The Motorcycle Assemblers Association of Kenya (MAAK), in partnership with MAAK Members and key industry stakeholders, successfully hosted its first-ever Safety and Awareness Campaign on October 26, 2024, at Pangani Playground, opposite Pumwani Police Station.

The event brought together over 550 riders, who were trained on road safety, responsible riding, and the importance of safety gear. Chief Guest Dr. Kalua Green led discussions on rider safety and MAAK’s role in the motorcycle industry.

The Motorcycle Assemblers Association of Kenya (MAAK), represented by the Secretariat Christine Ngovu, participated in the FITA Conference in Tunisia from June 11th to 16th, 2024. The visit was in partnership with the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) and GIZ.

During the visit, we toured leading automotive companies such as COFICAB, Draxmier, and BAKO among others gaining insights into Tunisia’s advanced manufacturing technologies and localization strategies. We were particularly impressed by their innovation, automation, and efficiency, reinforcing the importance of global collaborations in advancing Kenya’s motorcycle industry.
